Everyone has their own story, and I’m here to help them tell it. I’m Alexa, owner and principal designer of Black Line Studios. With a bachelor degree in interior design from the Art Institute, and over 8 of years experience in high end residential design, lighting design, and a strong background in furniture design, I’m here to create the perfect space for you.

Simply put I love design. All aspects of design! The thing I love most about interior design is that it can evoke emotion. Interior design uses all of the design elements like color, rhythm, shape, and pattern to make you feel a certain way in a space. When designing a space I look at it as a whole. If you take one element out, the space is no longer the same. Every element needs to speak to each other to create something that tells a story. Your story.

After graduating from the art institute with a bachelor degree in interior design Alexa worked for multiple high end design firms and also spent time as a furniture designer for an established brand, and product designer for Concrete and Copper Co. a business she helped run with her husband. With the experience and success of running their own company Alexa felt the desire to open her own interior design firm and use her talents to help people find their style and love their homes.

About Our Design Process

Our Design process can be easily followed in 6 simple steps:

The initial consultation is an important first step to the design process. We will chat either in person or over the phone with you to discuss your needs and the project. This is our time to get to know each other!

We’ll meet with you at the project site if we haven’t already, to familiarize ourselves with your plans as well as take detailed measurements. We will discuss in depth your vision and everyones exceptions and roles for the project.

The stage where fun begins! We design your home interior from 2D elevations to 3D renders. We provide samples of every finish material for your home so there are no surprises upon completion.

We will set up weekly site visits during the build stage. This is an important step in making sure all the fun had in phase 3 is getting completed with our vision in mind. Any questions will be answered and action items will be checked off our list.

Next, we'll place all orders and manage shipments for you! We'll track each item to ensure it arrives on time and in one piece.
​
​
After months of hard work, the vision is finally coming to life! At this point, all construction is complete and orders are in. The team will deliver all furniture and accessories and place everything where it goes. We will style your home for the big reveal! All that’s left for you to do is enjoy your new home.
